Major U.S. Airlines Unveil New Fall Flight Routes After Busy Summer

After a bustling summer travel period, September’s shoulder season is set to offer a welcomed break for travel-weary passengers. As the transition to fall takes place, major U.S. airlines are gearing up to introduce new and enhanced flight routes, providing travelers with exciting options for autumn journeys. Here’s a glimpse of the notable network expansions planned by these carriers:

Alaska Airlines:
Alaska Airlines is slated to bolster its service between Yakima and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington State on November 17. Additionally, the airline will introduce a new route connecting Los Angeles to Guatemala City, Guatemala, commencing on December 14.

American Airlines:
This fall, American Airlines is making it possible for travelers to catch their favorite college football games in action. Highlighted routes include Austin, Texas to Birmingham, Alabama; Nashville to Gainesville, Florida; and Los Angeles to Eugene, Oregon. The carrier is also enhancing service on 10 routes from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, expanding connectivity to destinations such as Belize City, Cancun, Curacao, and more. New nonstop services to Cancun from Nashville and Cincinnati will commence on December 9.

Avelo Airlines:
Budget-conscious travelers can look forward to Avelo Airlines’ Caribbean debut as it launches twice-weekly service between Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport and Puerto Rico’s San Juan Luis Munoz Marín International Airport. Flights are set to take off on November 15.

Delta Air Lines:
Delta Air Lines is set to reintroduce service to Curacao from Atlanta, marking the first time since 2010. The new service will begin on December 16.

JetBlue:
JetBlue is expanding its Caribbean service with new routes connecting New York City’s JFK International Airport to Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as Belize City. Further expansion includes flights from Boston to Grenada and linking Los Angeles with Nassau, Bahamas. JetBlue will also launch Orlando to Raleigh service, creating more travel options starting November 2.

Southwest Airlines:
Low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines is launching daily nonstop flights between Long Beach, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico, effective September 5. The airline is also rolling out seasonal service from Kansas City, Missouri to Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Los Cabos, Mexico, starting October 7. Additionally, Southwest’s current daily service between Kansas City and Cancun, Mexico will continue from October 5.

Spirit Airlines:
Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines is adding a new nonstop route between Charleston, South Carolina and Las Vegas, beginning September 7. The flights will operate five times a week.

United Airlines:
United Airlines has unveiled plans for 127 new nonstop flights tailored to the upcoming college football season. The enhanced flight options and larger aircraft will cater to various college towns and cities, including Ann Arbor, Michigan; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Columbus, Ohio. Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, stated, “We’re pleased to deliver a schedule this season that makes it easy for fans to come together and support their teams on the road.”
