Malaysia Airlines has officially relaunched its direct flights to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, reconnecting Malaysia with the City of Light after a nine-year hiatus. The relaunch took place on March 22, 2025, when the carrier’s Airbus A350-941, registered as 9M-MAB, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport as Flight MH22 at 23:53 local time. After a journey lasting 12 hours and 58 minutes, the flight touched down at Paris CDG at 05:51 local time the following day.

This milestone reintroduction makes Paris the 68th destination in Malaysia Airlines’ network. The airline will operate four weekly flights on the Kuala Lumpur–Paris route from March 22 to March 27, 2025, before ramping up to daily services starting March 29, 2025. The successful reinstallation of this non-stop route is a key component of the carrier’s strategy to expand its European footprint and enhance connectivity between Asia and one of the world’s most iconic destinations.

To commemorate the return to Paris, a special send-off event was held at the departure gate at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Attended by representatives from Malaysia Aviation Group, including Group Chief Financial Officer Boo Hui Yee and Chief Commercial Officer Dersenish Aresandiran, the event featured the distribution of exclusive memorabilia to passengers as a token of celebration. In addition, inbound travelers received special loot bags presented personally by MAG’s Head of Airlines Global Marketing, Emily Tan, as they boarded the return flight MH21, which left Paris at 11:58 local time on March 24, 2025, and is expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 07:01 local time on March 25, 2025.

Enhancing the travel experience further, Malaysia Airlines introduced a new pocketbook guide titled “Time for Memorable Journeys” exclusively for passengers on the Paris route. This guide, the first in an ongoing series aimed at enriching the travel experience, provides valuable insights into navigating Paris with ease. It includes practical tips such as local phrases, French etiquette, and culinary highlights of Parisian cuisine, ensuring that travelers can explore the city like locals and enjoy every moment of their stay.

The relaunch of the direct Paris service has been met with strong passenger support, as evidenced by a load factor of 95% for Flight MH22 and an even higher 98% for the return flight MH21. Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer at Malaysia Airlines, stated that the revival of the Paris route represents a significant step in strengthening the airline’s position as a gateway between Malaysia and Europe. He noted that this new service reflects the growing demand for seamless travel connections between Malaysia and France, which is poised to boost tourism and enhance bilateral ties.

“In anticipation of this return, we launched the ‘Time for Paris’ campaign last year to invite travelers to rediscover the magic of the City of Light with our signature Malaysian hospitality,” Aresandiran said. “We are thrilled to bring this journey to life and look forward to welcoming passengers on board for a truly memorable travel experience.”

By reintroducing its direct service to Paris, Malaysia Airlines not only reconnects Malaysia with a major European hub but also reinforces its commitment to providing exceptional service and innovative travel solutions in an increasingly competitive aviation market.
