Malaysian start-up Love2Fly (WW) has returned its only B737-800 to its lessor, casting doubt over the airline’s planned launch in the post-COVID phase. 9M-LOV (msn 29658) was ferried from Kuala Lumpur Int’l to Clark on November 13, 2020, under a flight number not including the airline’s WW code, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. On November 17, its owner reserved the US registration N658CG for the aircraft. According to the ch-aviation fleets ownership module, the 11.4-year-old jet is owned by San Clemente Leasing and managed by Aviation Capital Group. The aircraft was delivered to Love2Fly, whose formal name is M Jets International Sdn Bhd., in October 2020. It was subsequently used for domestic proving flights and charters between Kuala Lumpur and Miri, Kuching, Penang, and Kota Kinabalu. It also operated a limited number of international charters. The aircraft had been stored since August 17, 2020. It was only briefly reactivated for a return charter flight to Dili on September 27. The other B737-800 due to Love2Fly, 9M-MJI (msn 29654), remains parked at Woensdrecht and was never delivered to Malaysia. The carrier did not respond to ch-aviation’s request for comment regarding its status and whether it plans to relaunch.
