Malta’s Corendon Airlines Europe eyes US charters
Corendon Airlines Europe (XR, Malta Int’l) plans to launch charter flights to the United States, its application for a US foreign air carrier permit reveals.
According to its December 7, 2021, regulatory filing with the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Touristic Aviation Services Ltd t/a Corendon Airlines Europe has requested permission for charters ferrying passengers, property, and mail between any point/s in the European Union and any point/s in the US to the full extent of the Open Skies agreement between both territories. It has also applied for exemption authority that will allow it to commence the charters while awaiting approval of its application.
The Maltese leisure charter specialist also requests permission for cargo charters between any point/s in the US and any other points, any other charters subject to prior approval, and any future additional rights granted to EU carriers.
The airline operates a fleet of ten B737-800s leased from various companies, including Air Lease Corporation, Aircastle, Avolon, DAE Capital, and Jade Aviation, according to ch-aviation fleets advanced data. Its sister companies in the Corendon Group are Corendon Airlines (XC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) and Corendon Dutch Airlines (CD, Amsterdam Schiphol).
