SkyUp MT (U5) has announced the start of its first scheduled flights, set to begin in April 2025, from Chisinau International Airport in Moldova. The carrier, a subsidiary of Ukraine-based SkyUp Airlines, will offer a variety of routes aimed at enhancing connectivity for Ukrainian travelers via the Moldovan capital, chosen for its proximity to the Ukrainian border.

SkyUp MT’s initial schedule includes:

  • Paris Beauvais (2x weekly)
  • Lisbon (1x weekly)
  • Barcelona El Prat (1x weekly, increasing to 3x weekly over time)
  • Alicante (2x weekly)
  • Palma de Mallorca (2x weekly)
  • Larnaca (3x weekly)
  • Irakleion (1x weekly, increasing to 4x weekly)

All flights will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, according to the airline’s booking platform.

SkyUp Airlines CEO Dmytro Seroukhov expressed the company’s commitment to supporting Ukrainian aviation and facilitating travel for Ukrainians despite challenges arising from Russia’s invasion and the closure of Ukrainian airspace. “We are committed to ensuring Ukrainian aviation remains resilient,” Seroukhov stated, highlighting the difficulty of maintaining operations and fleet stability under current conditions.

The launch from Chisinau fulfills SkyUp’s plans for scheduled operations after being forced to suspend them due to the invasion. Since then, the parent company has focused on charter and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) operations under both Ukrainian and Maltese Air Operator Certificates (AOCs), which function as a unified unit.

SkyUp’s in-house fleet includes one Boeing 737-700 and five Boeing 737-800s under its Ukrainian AOC, and three Boeing 737-800s under its Maltese AOC. The carrier also holds an undelivered order with Boeing for two 737-7s, two 737-8s, and three 737-10s.

This expansion marks a significant milestone for SkyUp, as it transitions from solely charter and ACMI services to scheduled operations, leveraging its Maltese AOC to access the European market.
