Atlanta-based Marddy’s — a shared-kitchen collective for Black startup food brands — is expanding to its second location in Pittsburgh Yards to address the challenges Black entrepreneurs are facing, specifically higher rents due to gentrification. The woman behind the concept Keitra Bates underscores the importance of addressing the displacement issue head-on because “new money coming in doesn’t mean that their business should get snuffed out,” she said.
