Margaritaville at Sea Adds Largest Ship to Fleet

Margaritaville at Sea is expanding its cruise offerings with the acquisition of a third ship, the Costa Fortuna, from Costa Cruises. Once refurbished, the 3,450-guest vessel will become the largest ship in the Margaritaville at Sea fleet, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s rapid growth since its cruise debut.
The ship will undergo an extensive transformation to reflect the signature Margaritaville island-inspired design, delivering a laid-back tropical atmosphere that fans of the brand have come to expect. The goal is to create a floating paradise infused with the spirit of escapism, complete with bright colors, beach-themed decor, and the relaxed attitude that defines the Margaritaville lifestyle.
Costa Cruises will continue to operate the ship under the name Costa Fortuna until late next year. After that, it will be fully rebranded and relaunched under the Margaritaville at Sea banner. The purchase follows the successful launches of Margaritaville at Sea Paradise in 2022 and Margaritaville at Sea Islander in 2024. With the addition of this third ship, the cruise line continues its momentum and broadens its ability to reach more vacationers seeking a fun and easygoing escape on the ocean.
Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, noted the brand’s consistent focus on guest satisfaction and unique cruise experiences. “Over the last three years we have been incredibly focused on building Margaritaville at Sea by delivering more of what our guests love—a uniquely laid-back island attitude with award-winning hospitality,” Ivy said. “With the acquisition of our third ship in three years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean.”
The expansion positions Margaritaville at Sea as a growing player in the cruise industry, offering themed voyages that blend music, tropical vibes, and immersive brand experiences. The cruise line caters to a wide range of travelers looking for value-packed vacations with a fun, all-inclusive feel. As the newest and largest ship in the fleet, the former Costa Fortuna will allow the brand to serve more guests with new itineraries and expanded amenities.
Margaritaville at Sea’s rapid growth reflects the demand for cruise experiences that go beyond traditional travel, blending entertainment, lifestyle branding, and tropical relaxation into a cohesive vacation product. The upcoming ship renovation will align with the brand’s promise of transforming everyday getaways into full-fledged experiences built around the island-state-of-mind philosophy.
With three ships in service by the end of next year, Margaritaville at Sea is on course to deliver more adventures, more fun, and more Jimmy Buffett-inspired cruising than ever before.
