Marriott International is significantly expanding its presence in Greece with the signing of nine new hotels, adding nearly 1,000 rooms across key destinations. The move reinforces Greece’s position as a high-growth leisure market and highlights Marriott’s strategy to diversify its brand portfolio across islands, coastal regions, and major cities.

The expansion introduces two new brands to the Greek market: Residence Inn by Marriott and Le Méridien. A 57-room Residence Inn by Marriott Athens will mark the brand’s debut in the capital, catering to extended-stay travelers, while the 229-room Le Méridien Sissi Crete is scheduled to open in 2027 on the country’s largest island.

Several additional projects are already in the pipeline. These include Milatos Marriott Resort Crete, expected to open in 2028, The Tenant, Heraklion Crete, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel set for 2026, and Orosea, Paros, Autograph Collection, also planned for 2026. Together, these developments reflect a balanced mix of lifestyle, upscale, and resort-focused properties.

Marriott is also strengthening its luxury segment in Greece. The company has signed Hymnos, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Zakynthos, a 94-room property expected to open later this year. Further boutique and design-led additions include Tella Thera, Stamna Sifnos, and Eréma, all part of the Design Hotels portfolio, targeting travelers seeking unique, experience-driven stays.

The expansion comes amid sustained growth in Greek tourism, with the country continuing to attract strong international demand. Greece’s diverse offering—ranging from historic cities to island destinations—has made it a priority market for global hotel operators looking to scale their presence in Southern Europe.

Marriott currently operates 47 properties in Greece, totaling more than 6,000 rooms across 10 brands and 12 destinations. The addition of these nine new hotels will significantly deepen its footprint and broaden its appeal to a wider range of travelers, from luxury seekers to extended-stay guests.

The latest signings underscore continued confidence from owners and franchise partners in Marriott’s global distribution network and brand strength. As travel demand across Europe remains robust, the company is positioning itself to capture further growth by expanding in high-demand destinations such as Greece, where both leisure and lifestyle travel segments continue to accelerate.
