A new survey reveals that traveling more is a top New Year’s resolution for Americans in 2026, prompting Marriott Bonvoy to launch a major New Year’s Eve sweepstakes offering one million loyalty points to help travelers turn plans into reality.

The survey, conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Marriott Bonvoy, questioned more than 2,000 US travelers about their goals and priorities for the year ahead. Results show that 91 percent of Americans plan to travel in 2026, with nearly half saying they intend to travel more than they did this year. Two-thirds of respondents also said they are willing to cut back on material purchases in favor of experiences such as travel.

Millennials emerged as the most travel-focused generation, with 70 percent saying they would give up dining out for six months rather than sacrifice a vacation. The findings highlight a broader shift toward experience-driven spending and meaningful travel.

“Many Americans are heading into the new year wanting to travel more than they did this past year, fueled by a desire for deeper connection, new discoveries, and more meaningful experiences,” said Mandy Gill, managing vice president of brands, marketing, and digital for the US and Canada at Marriott International. “Marriott Bonvoy is uniquely positioned to help bring those plans to life.”

To support travelers’ ambitions, Marriott Bonvoy has launched its New Year’s Eve Sweepstakes, which will award one million points to five loyalty program members. The sweepstakes opens December 22 and runs through January 1, with entries available to legal residents of all 50 US states and Washington, DC.

“With the chance to win one million points—enough to fund unforgettable getaways, bucket-list adventures, or dozens of nights across our diverse portfolio of brands—we’re giving travelers the opportunity to turn their travel dreams into reality,” Gill added.
