Homage to traditional Hawaiian culture is driving the $100 million facelift at the 466-room Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, next door to a sacred burial site dating back to 850 A.D. Hawaiian artists, designers and advisers are engaged in an indigenous-themed ambiance that includes such luxury enhancements as added cabanas and a new lounge featuring native cuisine.
