Mexico’s Mas Air takes first A330-200(P2F) converted freighter

Mas Air (M7, México City Int’l) took delivery of its first A330-200(P2F), the first of at least four converted Airbus widebodies the Mexican airline plans to add in the near future.

EI-MYY (msn 868) is a 14.4-year-old aircraft formerly operated in a passenger configuration by Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int’l). It was converted at Dresden airport by Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), a joint venture between Airbus and ST Engineering, and completed a post-conversion test flight on January 19. It has yet to be repainted into Mas Air’s livery or ferried to Mexico. The aircraft is the first of two A330-200(P2F)s the airline will lease from Altavair.

Mas Air also plans to lease two A330-300(P2F)s from CDB Aviation. The ch-aviation fleets advanced module indicates they will be msn 958 and 964 both of which are already under conversion with EFW.

The airline currently operates three Boeing freighters: one 767-200(SF), one 767-300(ERBDSF), and one 767-300F.
