The Miami HEAT and Carnival Corporation & plc, together with the Micky & Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, have donated $1 million to Direct Relief to support recovery efforts in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm that struck the island on October 28, 2025, and continues to impact parts of the Caribbean.

Direct Relief, a nonprofit humanitarian organization, provides emergency medical aid and health resources to communities affected by disasters and poverty worldwide. Together, the Miami HEAT, Carnival, and the Arison Foundation have contributed more than $17 million over the years toward disaster relief and humanitarian causes, including efforts in Ukraine and for Hurricanes Helene, Milton, Ian, Dorian, and others.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Jamaica,” said Eric Woolworth, President of The HEAT Group’s Business Operations. “In Florida, we know the devastation of a Category 5 storm. Direct Relief provides life-saving and ongoing assistance, which is vital as residents begin rebuilding their communities.”

Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, added, “We’re sending thoughts of comfort and strength to our friends in Jamaica, whose warmth and hospitality have created unforgettable experiences for so many of our guests and crew. Our connection to Jamaica runs deep, and supporting its communities now is more important than ever.”

At Jamaica’s request, Direct Relief has mobilized 100 field medic packs, each equipped with triage and first-aid supplies for emergency responders. The organization has also shared its full medical inventory with Jamaica’s Ministry of Health to expedite additional shipments, including antibiotics, protective gear, and chronic disease medications.

“Direct Relief is deeply grateful for the generosity of the Miami HEAT, the Micky & Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, and Carnival Corporation,” said Amy Weaver, CEO of Direct Relief. “This support enables us to deliver immediate medical assistance to Jamaica and strengthen its healthcare system for the challenges ahead.”
