MICHELIN Guide Launches Global Keys Ranking for World’s Top Hotels

One hundred twenty-five years after revolutionizing global dining, the MICHELIN Guide is once again redefining excellence—this time in the world of hospitality—with the launch of the Global MICHELIN Keys Selection, its first-ever international hotel ranking system recognizing the world’s most exceptional stays.
Following the same prestige as its famed restaurant Stars, the MICHELIN Keys are awarded in three tiers—One, Two, and Three Keys—signifying outstanding quality, design, service, and guest experience. Over 7,000 hotels were reviewed, and 2,457 properties were selected for the inaugural Global MICHELIN Keys Selection. Each property was evaluated using five criteria, including architecture, interior design, service quality, authenticity, and consistency.
A One MICHELIN Key property represents a highly distinctive stay, offering unique character and exceptional service within its class. Two MICHELIN Key hotels deliver an extraordinary experience that blends cultural connection, design excellence, and a deep sense of place. The prestigious Three MICHELIN Key ranking is reserved for the world’s most exceptional hotels—those offering unparalleled comfort, hospitality, and a sense of timeless wonder.
“125 years after its creation as a guide for discerning travelers, the MICHELIN Guide is once again redefining excellence—this time in hospitality,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. “MICHELIN Keys now honor hotels that deliver truly remarkable stays where design, service, and atmosphere create unforgettable memories.”
Among Europe’s top-ranked properties are De L’Europe Amsterdam and Villa Nai 3.3 in Croatia, both earning Three Keys. In the Caribbean and Central America, standouts include Nayara Springs in Costa Rica and Golden Rock Inn in St. Kitts and Nevis. South America’s honorees feature Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa in Chile, Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel in Brazil, and Explora Rapa Nui in Easter Island.
Africa’s elite list includes Kasbah Tamadot in Morocco, Londolozi Game Reserve in South Africa, and Shipwreck Lodge in Namibia. In Asia, awardees include Japan’s 500-year-old Asaba Ryokan, India’s mountain retreat The Kumaon, and Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li in China. Oceania’s winners feature The Brando in French Polynesia, Thorngrove Manor in Australia, and Stoneridge Estate in New Zealand.
With the introduction of MICHELIN Keys, the Guide establishes a new global benchmark for exceptional hotel experiences—celebrating the art of hospitality with the same rigor it applies to fine dining.
