Milan Airports Unveils Redesigned Terminal 2
Milan Malpensa International Airport has officially reopened the completely redesigned Terminal 2 to its passengers.
The newly restructured Terminal will be exclusively dedicated to Easyjet and will act as its main base in continental Europe, with an unmatched range of seats and destinations served, as well as a punctual and innovative service.
Armando Brunini, Chief Executive Officer of SEA Milan Airports, stated at the inauguration on May 31st: “The reopening of Malpensa Terminal 2 is further confirmation that we have recovered pre-pandemic passenger volumes and that the pandemic is over”.
Specifically, the makeover concerns a new check-in area with 21 self-drop stations, and a completely restructured security area supplied with 9 automated lines and a EDS-CB system (explosive detection system for hand luggage). This system is equipped with TAC technology, which allows travellers to go through security screening without having to separate electronic devices and liquids from their carry-on luggage. Passengers can also enjoy a pre-boarding shopping experience in the new 1,500 m2 duty-free area, or grab a tasty meal at one of the many restaurants and snack bars.
The Terminal has also been improved in terms of sustainability, with better thermal insulation and higher energy performance. In fact, the latest generation of air conditioning systems can save up to 15% energy and 8% CO2 emissions.
On the day of the reopening alone, 20,000 Easyjet passengers flew from Terminal 2 to the most popular destinations in Europe and Italy and we expect a busy summer with almost 5 million passengers to over 60 destinations.
