Mindtrip Acquires Thatch to Expand AI-Powered Travel Planning

AI-powered trip planner Mindtrip has acquired Thatch, a travel guide platform featuring insights from local experts and content creators. Mindtrip, named one of PhocusWire’s Hot 25 Travel Startups for 2025, confirmed the acquisition, though financial terms remain undisclosed.
Mindtrip CEO Andy Moss stated that Thatch’s community of travel creators is now part of Mindtrip’s creator program, with several team members joining the company. “At Mindtrip, we believe human experiences add depth to travel that AI alone cannot replicate,” Moss said. “Local guides, tastemakers, and frequent travelers bring authenticity, while AI makes their insights more accessible and actionable.”
Thatch co-founder and product lead Abby West announced the transition on the company’s website, stating that the merger will take AI-powered trip planning to the next level. Thatch’s content has already migrated to Mindtrip, marking a new chapter for both brands.
Co-founder and CEO West Askew highlighted that the fusion of AI efficiency and human expertise could transform the travel experience. “Mindtrip has built an incredible product, and we’re excited to help accelerate growth with our global network of travel creators,” Askew said.
Both startups have secured significant funding. Thatch raised $3 million in 2021, while Mindtrip secured $7 million before its 2023 launch, followed by $12 million in September. The company has since introduced new features like group chat, receipts, B2B solutions, and recently integrated with Visit California to expand its reach.
