Hunnu Air, Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar-based airline, plans to add an Embraer E195-E2 to its fleet in March 2025, according to aviation analyst Brendon Sobie. This addition marks a significant step in Hunnu Air’s fleet modernization and expansion efforts.

Currently, Hunnu Air operates a fleet comprising one ATR42-500 and two E190 aircraft. The airline serves destinations including Almaty, Beijing Daxing, Manzhouli, Ordos Ejin Horo, and Sanya. Additionally, it plans to introduce twice-weekly flights to Kobe, Japan, by mid-2025.

Mongolia’s aircraft registry includes a total of 18 large aircraft, showcasing a mix of operators. MIAT Mongolian Airlines, the state-owned flag carrier, operates a diverse fleet of Boeing jets, including two B787-9 Dreamliners and one B767-300ER. Aero Mongolia flies two Airbus A319-100s, with two E145s currently stored. Meanwhile, Eznis Airways operates a B737-700 under a wet lease agreement with Nigeria’s Air Peace, and Mongolian Airways Cargo leases its A320-200 to Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways.

The introduction of the E195-E2 will enhance Hunnu Air’s operational capabilities, allowing the airline to serve longer routes and increase capacity. This addition reflects the growing demand for air travel in Mongolia and the airline’s strategy to strengthen its presence in regional markets.

Hunnu Air’s investment in modern aircraft positions it as a competitive player in the evolving Asian aviation landscape, paving the way for expanded connectivity and improved passenger services.
