Most Business Travelers Open to AI Booking Their Trips: Study

A majority of business travelers are open to letting artificial intelligence assistants book travel on their behalf, according to a new report by Amadeus Hospitality. The “Travel Dreams” study, conducted with Opinium Research, surveyed 6,000 travelers across the U.S., UK, Germany, France, India, and China.
The findings show that 54% of business travelers would be comfortable with AI making bookings for them. Interest in AI support extended beyond reservations, with 60% open to receiving destination-specific dining recommendations and 51% welcoming trip planning suggestions.
The report highlights the growing desire among travelers for technology-driven solutions. About 71% of business travelers want self-service or online check-in options, while 41% see AI as part of an ideal future stay. Additionally, 22% said they would prefer to pay with digital wallets or even cryptocurrency in the future.
When it comes to booking preferences, online travel agencies remain dominant. Some 41% of respondents, both leisure and business travelers, preferred using OTAs to book hotels, while 21% opted for direct bookings through hotel websites. Nearly half (47%) cited ease of use as their top reason for choosing a booking method.
The study also reveals a growing willingness to share personal data in exchange for tailored offers. Sixty-six percent of business travelers said they would provide personal information in return for personalized deals, compared to just over 50% across all respondents.
Beyond AI and personalization, the report explores broader trends in marketing, social media engagement, travel insurance, and evolving expectations among both leisure and business travelers.
