Motu Link Secures $2.2M for French Polynesia’s First Cargo-Only Airline
Motu Link Airline, a French Polynesian cargo start-up based in Papeete, has successfully raised XPF251 million (USD2.2 million) through a crowdfunding campaign hosted on Fenua Financement. This accounts for two-thirds of the company’s target of XPF380 million (USD3.3 million). Since the campaign launched in mid-November, 173 investors have contributed to support the airline’s vision of becoming the region’s first dedicated cargo-only airline.
Motu Link aims to address the demand for transporting perishable and time-sensitive goods, which are currently carried in the bellyhold of Air Tahiti’s passenger aircraft or via refrigerated ship holds. By focusing on freight-specific services, Motu Link seeks to provide more efficient solutions for the movement of goods across French Polynesia.
Established on January 29, 2021, Motu Link operates as a simplified joint-stock company (SAS) with an initial share capital of XPF5 million (USD44,000). The company’s headquarters are in Papeete, with Alexandre Mu serving as chairman.
The crowdfunding success demonstrates strong support for the airline’s mission from local and international investors. Once fully funded, Motu Link will position itself as a critical player in French Polynesia’s supply chain, enhancing logistics for businesses and communities reliant on timely freight services.
The campaign continues to attract attention, underscoring the potential for innovation in the region’s cargo transport sector.
