MSC Cruises Begins Major Refit of MSC Magnifica for 2026 Launch

MSC Cruises has begun an extensive refurbishment of MSC Magnifica, marking a major upgrade for the 2010-built Musica Class ship. Construction is already underway and is expected to be completed by December 2025, with the enhanced vessel debuting in summer 2026.
The refit includes the addition of MSC’s signature Yacht Club — a private “ship within a ship” experience — featuring 63 new luxury suites, a dedicated lounge, fine-dining restaurant, and sundeck. The Magnifica will also receive two new specialty dining venues: the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar. Additional upgrades include an expanded MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym Fitness Center, new workout studios, and an enhanced outdoor Aurea relaxation area.
The ship will be the first of two Musica Class vessels to undergo major renovations at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard. Sister ship MSC Poesia is scheduled to enter dry dock in February 2026.
“These upgrades highlight our commitment to offering guests the best possible experience across our fleet,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises. “By introducing the MSC Yacht Club, new restaurants, gyms, and wellness spaces, we’re giving guests more exclusivity and choice than ever before.”
He added, “The MSC Yacht Club is one of our most highly regarded products, known for its exceptional service and elegant amenities. We’re proud to bring this experience to MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia in time for our first Alaska season and the 2027 MSC World Cruise.”
Following the renovation, MSC Magnifica will sail Northern Europe itineraries beginning in summer 2026, offering an upgraded luxury experience that blends exclusivity with MSC’s signature European style.
