MSC Cruises’ newest ship, MSC World America, is one step closer to its highly anticipated debut as it successfully completed its final sea trial in the Atlantic Ocean. The vessel underwent an intensive deep-water systems test that verified the performance and reliability of its advanced technologies and environmental systems. With this milestone behind it, MSC World America is now heading to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, where crews will put the finishing touches on the ship before delivery.

Scheduled for delivery on March 27, MSC World America will soon set sail on its maiden voyage, following a prestigious naming ceremony at the brand new MSC Cruise Terminal in Miami on April 9. This celebration will mark the beginning of a new era for MSC Cruises as the vessel embarks on its inaugural journey to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the company’s private island in the Bahamas. The celebratory sailing will serve as a preview for guests before the ship officially deploys in the Caribbean Sea, where it will offer a series of luxurious itineraries.

MSC World America, the 23rd vessel in MSC Cruises’ fleet, is engineered to accommodate up to 6,762 guests and is notable for being the third ship in the fleet powered by liquified natural gas (LNG). This environmentally friendly propulsion system underscores MSC Cruises’ commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while offering high performance and superior fuel efficiency. In addition to LNG propulsion, the vessel is equipped with shore power capabilities, an advanced wastewater treatment plant, and a comprehensive recycling program, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of environmental sustainability.

Once in service, MSC World America will be based in Miami and will offer alternating 7-night itineraries covering both the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The ship’s diverse range of itineraries will allow guests to explore an array of exciting destinations. Travelers will have the opportunity to visit Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Isla de Roatan in Honduras, in addition to enjoying the exclusive experience at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. These routes are designed to provide passengers with a mix of cultural experiences, beach relaxation, and adventure activities, all while enjoying the luxury and comfort that MSC Cruises is known for.

The successful completion of the sea trials represents a crucial phase in MSC World America’s journey toward joining MSC Cruises’ award-winning fleet. Industry experts have noted that the ship’s performance during these trials bodes well for its operational readiness and passenger experience. With its state-of-the-art features, environmental innovations, and an impressive guest capacity, MSC World America is set to raise the bar for modern cruise ships.

As the ship makes its final preparations at the Saint Nazaire shipyard, MSC Cruises is gearing up for a busy 2025 season with the launch of this flagship vessel. The new addition reinforces MSC Cruises’ continued expansion and commitment to delivering exceptional cruising experiences that blend luxury, sustainability, and innovative design. Guests and industry observers alike are eagerly awaiting the debut of MSC World America as it prepares to navigate the vibrant and dynamic waters of the Caribbean.
