Officials from the Nassau Cruise Port announced the first phase of its $300 million project would open on May 26, marking the completion of a four-year redevelopment.

According to Travel Weekly, Nassau Cruise Port will now be capable of accommodating six ships per day thanks to the addition of a new berth, bringing total arrival capacity to 20,000-30,000 passengers per day.

In April, CruiseHive reported the Bahamian port would have the capacity to host multiple Oasis and Icon class cruise ships at the same time. As a result, officials believe the numbers will dramatically increase to 4.5 million visitors in 2024 as part of 1,300 cruise ship calls.

In addition to new and overhauled berths, passengers at the facility can enjoy unique amenities, including a “modern terminal building, a Junkanoo Museum showcasing Bahamian cultural heritage and a theater for live performances and events.”

Global Ports Holding shared a sneak peek of the property on Twitter:

Nassau Cruise Port will also boast various international and local restaurants and shops.
