NCL to Launch Separate Drink Package at Great Stirrup Cay
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced that starting March 1, 2026, guests will need to purchase a separate beverage package when visiting its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas.
Currently, guests can use their onboard beverage packages on the island, but that policy will change next year. Instead, NCL will introduce a new, island-exclusive package designed specifically for Great Stirrup Cay.
“Further details on the new beverage package available at Great Stirrup Cay will be shared in the future, and guests will be able to purchase their package beginning January 1, 2026,” an NCL spokesperson said in a statement to TravelPulse.
According to the cruise line, the change aims to give travelers “greater flexibility to curate how they experience” the destination. The new drink packages will be crafted exclusively for Great Stirrup Cay, with options tailored to the island’s relaxed, beachside atmosphere.
NCL confirmed that water, iced tea, juices, and other nonalcoholic beverages will remain complimentary and readily available on the island.
The update coincides with several major enhancements underway at Great Stirrup Cay, including the construction of a new pier and the development of the highly anticipated Great Tides Waterpark, expected to open next year. The expansion will introduce new entertainment, dining, and family amenities, transforming the island into a more immersive resort-style destination.
Norwegian Cruise Line has not yet disclosed pricing or package tiers for the new beverage options but indicated that more information will be announced in the coming months.
The move aligns with NCL’s broader strategy of personalizing guest experiences across its private destinations, following similar upgrades at Harvest Caye in Belize. By creating a distinct beverage program for Great Stirrup Cay, NCL aims to enhance flexibility and elevate the overall island experience for guests seeking a premium, customizable day in the Bahamas.
