NetJets Inks Historic Deal for Up to 1,500 Cessna Citation Jets with Textron Aviation
NetJets, the world’s largest private jet operator, has entered into a groundbreaking fleet agreement with Textron Aviation, the manufacturer of Cessna Citation business jets. This record-breaking deal allows NetJets the option to purchase up to 1,500 additional Cessna Citation jets over the next 15 years, marking the largest order in the history of business aviation.
This agreement builds upon NetJets’ existing partnership with Textron Aviation and includes provisions for the acquisition of an increasing number of aircraft each year. It grants NetJets the opportunity to expand its fleet with various Cessna Citation models, including the Citation Ascend, Citation Latitude, and Citation Longitude. Notably, NetJets will become the launch customer for Textron Aviation’s latest jet, the Citation Ascend, expected to enter service in 2025.
The Citation Ascend is a midsize jet designed to offer enhanced space, comfort, and performance compared to the existing Citation Latitude. It features a spacious cabin with diverse seating options, direct aisle access, personal wardrobes, minibars, 17-inch screens, Bluetooth audio connectivity, wireless charging, and customizable individual seat heating and cooling settings. Additionally, passengers can enjoy a 2-meter-long flatbed, shoulder sink-in for side sleepers, and a tablet to control seat and in-flight entertainment functions.
NetJets plans to commence new and returning flights in June and July 2024, with booking availability starting on Saturday, September 16. This fleet expansion aims to provide global customers with increased versatility and flexibility while building upon the popularity of the Citation Latitude and Longitude models.
NetJets has maintained a longstanding relationship with Textron Aviation for over 40 years and has received over 800 aircraft deliveries from the manufacturer during this period. Currently, NetJets operates a global fleet of more than 750 aircraft, including over 300 Cessna Citations.
