Executives from Himalaya Jet, a new long-haul carrier based in the United Kingdom, have met with Boeing to discuss the airline’s plans.

Accepting an invitation from Boeing to visit its facilities in the United States, the Gurung Family, who own the majority share of the new airline, were given an exclusive tour.

The tour included the use of Virtual Reality technology to experience how flying over the Himalayas in a Boeing jet would feel.

Himalaya Jet is looking to become a premium long-haul, point to point operator connecting London and Paris with the Himalayan region, India (Delhi and Mumbai) and Nepal (Kathmandu).

The owners will also look to expand its services to the United States and Australia in the future, particularly from Kathmandu, which is the closest major city to Mount Everest.

The airline hopes to eliminate some of difficulties in travellers experience when visiting the Himalayan regions.

The director of Himalaya Jet, Dipendra Gurung, expressed his “gratitude towards Boeing for such a bespoke experience, personalized factory tour and hospitality”.

During their visit, the Gurung Family was assisted by Miss Shree Saini (Miss America) and M AC Sherpa (Honorary Consular General of Nepal for Washington Seattle).

Himalaya Jet is one of the very few brand-new airlines receiving support from the Boeing Startup, which was designed to help start-up carriers.

The carrier aims to connect cities include New York, Washington DC, Toronto, Zurich, Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome and Vienna to the Himalayan regions.

Himalaya Jet is preparing to start flying from September 2023.
