Los Angeles is rebounding strongly from recent challenges in the hotel industry. Despite a pandemic-induced dip in new developments, the city is buzzing with new hotel projects as it prepares for the 2028 Olympics. In 2023, LA attracted 49.1 million visitors, nearly matching pre-pandemic numbers, with 97% recovery from 2019’s figures.

As the city gears up for a busy event calendar, including hundreds of sporting events, concerts, and festivals, new hotels are opening their doors. Here’s a look at the latest additions to LA’s accommodation scene:

New Hotels in Los Angeles

  • Burton House Hotel Beverly Hills: Launched in May 2024, this Marriott tribute brand offers 186 suites that blend Beverly Hills history with modern elegance. Located in a serene residential area, it features upscale amenities including 55-inch TVs, kitchenettes, and a Mediterranean restaurant with a Southern California twist. Yoga sessions and a nearby traditional deli add to its charm.
  • Cambria Hotel Burbank Airport: Situated near Hollywood Burbank Airport, this new Choice Hotels Cambria property provides modern amenities and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s perfect for travelers looking to avoid LAX traffic and access North Hollywood’s film studios and theme parks.
  • KODO Hotel Downtown Arts District: This boutique hotel, set in a historic firehouse, combines Japanese and American design elements. Its loft-style rooms and minimalist décor offer a unique lodging experience in LA’s Arts District.
  • The Olivia Hotel, Westwood: Opening in summer or early fall, this boutique hotel near UCLA features a blend of modern chic and nature-inspired design. With a casual café, versatile lounging spaces, and a prime location, it promises a laid-back California vibe.
  • Regent Santa Monica: Formerly the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, this property is undergoing a $150 million renovation to become the 5-star Regent Santa Monica Beach. With spacious oceanfront accommodations and reduced room count, it will offer luxurious amenities when it opens in September 2024.
  • Sandbourne Santa Monica: This oceanfront retreat, now part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, opened in May. Designed by Icelandic architect Gulla Jónsdóttir, it emphasizes natural textures and sensory experiences. Features include a ceramics class by the pool, a dog park, and a honeybee farm.

The Future of Los Angeles Hotels

The momentum in LA’s hotel industry continues with upcoming projects like Mama Shelter Downtown Los Angeles (2026), North Hollywood Hotel, Aman Beverly Hills (2027), and the Venice Place boutique hotel (2026).
