In a groundbreaking culinary announcement, New Orleans & Company is thrilled to reveal that the 2024 Americas selections of the Pastry World Cup and the Bocuse d’Or will make their debut in the United States. The prestigious event will take place from June 11 to 13, 2024, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, showcasing the exceptional talents of pastry chefs and cooks from across the American continent.

New Orleans, renowned for its unique and diverse gastronomic scene, serves as the perfect backdrop for these culinary competitions. The city’s rich culinary heritage, influenced by French and Spanish traditions, has earned it accolades such as being named the Best Food Destination in the US by Tripadvisor in the 2023 Travelers’ Choice Awards.

The culinary festivities will kick off on June 11 with the Americas selection of the Pastry World Cup, featuring up to eight countries from North and South America. The top three teams will earn a coveted spot in the Grand Finale at Sirha Lyon® in January 2025. This year, a special twist awaits the participants as they will work with an iconic American dessert, the details of which will be unveiled soon.

On June 12 and 13, the Bocuse d’Or Americas competition will take center stage, with up to 12 countries vying for top honors. Following intense competition over these two days, the expert jury will select the five best teams to advance to the Grand Finale of the Bocuse d’Or, set to take place in France in January 2025 during the next Sirha Lyon®.

Notably, the USA has a storied history in these competitions, with six podium finishes in the Pastry World Cup, including a World Champions title in 2001, and success at the Bocuse d’Or, exemplified by Mathew Peters’ victory in 2017.

Walt Leger III, President and CEO of New Orleans & Company, expressed his excitement, stating, “New Orleans is a world-class culinary destination and renowned as a city where champions of all kinds are crowned. We are honored that New Orleans has been selected as the host city for the Bocuse d’Or Americas and the Americas selections of the Pastry World Cup in June 2024, becoming the first city in the United States to host these events.”

The year 2024 will be punctuated by continental selections for both competitions, with Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa set to follow. The culinary world eagerly anticipates these events, which celebrate global gastronomic diversity and the excellence, dedication, and technical prowess of chefs.

Through the Bocuse d’Or and Pastry World Cup, Sirha Food® continues to spotlight and unite diverse gastronomic and pastry cultures worldwide, inspiring new generations of chefs to elevate their culinary heritage. Since their inception in 1987 and 1989, respectively, these competitions have been at the forefront of driving excellence and innovation in the culinary profession across the globe.
