A longtime institution on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, New York-New York Hotel & Casino last year launched a $63-million redesign and remodel of its 1,830 guest rooms and 155 suites. Slated for completion this summer, the renewed accommodations will capture the vibes of two of the world’s most vibrant cities with dynamic new aesthetic elements and upgraded in-room amenities.

MGM Resorts International Design Group partnered on the project with independent hospitality design firm HVS Design. The renovations have been carefully considered to make optimal use of the rooms’ existing dimensions, incorporating moveable work surfaces, installing readily accessible USB/USB-C power outlets, and integrating extra closet space and shelving, along with other modern conveniences.

Drawing inspiration from the spirit of energy and excitement that’s synonymous with both New York City and Las Vegas, the reimagined rooms replicate certain signature NYC details. Faux exposed-brick walls, and the thoughtful inclusion of accent colors like Big Apple Red and Taxicab Yellow help to subtly infuse the look and feel of the famous ‘City that Never Sleeps’ into the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’.

“It’s an exciting time at New York-New York. We recently launched Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple show to tremendous feedback from our guests.” said Michael Neubecker, the resort’s President and COO. “To embark on a remodel of our rooms and suites is the next step in keeping the resort fresh and giving guests new reasons to visit. Whether coming for business or pleasure, guests will find our new rooms offer a stylish and modern respite as they enjoy the excitement of Las Vegas.”

“As we envisioned our design for this project, we incorporated that New York City vibe and twisted it with bold colors and pops of energy to blend with Las Vegas, stressing functionality as a key factor,” said Christine Shanahan, Principal at HVS Design. “Guests will experience the feel of a loft apartment with convenient touchpoints and amenities designed to make them feel right at home.”

All of the resort’s guest rooms, along with its Spa, Marquis and Players suites, are scheduled for completion before the end of summer. The guest rooms’ remodel represents the lates phase of a resort-wide modernization effort, which includes the refurbished and rebranded Big Apple Coaster, whose new trains make for a smoother ride; and the revamped Big Apple Arcade, which is now equipped with updated games and the latest RFID technology.
