Nico Neumann Named Co-CEO of Deutsche Aircraft
Deutsche Aircraft has announced a significant leadership change by appointing Nico Neumann as co-CEO, effective January 1, 2025, as it ramps up its D328eco turboprop program. Neumann, who is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer, will share responsibilities with incumbent CEO Dave Jackson until he transitions to full operational leadership by mid-2025.
This move is part of Deutsche Aircraft’s strategic preparations for the industrialization phase leading up to the highly anticipated debut of the D328eco in 2027. Neumann’s nearly two decades of experience within the organization and its subsidiary, 328 Support Services, make him well-suited for this role. His tenure at the company includes significant achievements such as leading the establishment of the aircraft’s Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Leipzig and managing key government partnerships essential for the program’s progress.
Neumann’s background as a B2-certified engineer and his extensive experience overseeing production, maintenance, and modifications of the Dornier 328 fleet have prepared him for this leadership position. His promotion is expected to strengthen Deutsche Aircraft’s execution capabilities as it enters a critical phase of its flagship project.
In conjunction with Neumann’s appointment, Olaf Lawrenz, a seasoned industry professional with prior experience at Airbus and Asco Industries, will step into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Lawrenz will be responsible for managing supply chain operations, final assembly lines, and delivery centers, enhancing the company’s industrial strategy and operational efficiency.

The D328eco is a next-generation turboprop designed with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. Its development is progressing on schedule, with the first flight expected in late 2025 and the new Leipzig/Halle Airport FAL set to become operational around the same time. These developments are crucial as Deutsche Aircraft aims to meet its target of delivering the aircraft by 2027.
