Nigeria’s Flybird Aircraft Management Receives AOC from NCAA

Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited, based in Abuja, has officially secured its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as of June 10, 2024. This significant milestone marks a pivotal advancement in the company’s capabilities and services in the aviation sector.

The company, which specializes in aircraft management and trading, has been relatively quiet about its future commercial endeavors following the acquisition of the AOC. Despite inquiries from ch-aviation, Flybird has not disclosed specific details about its operational plans or the potential deployment of the AOC in future projects.

Speculation surrounds Flybird’s intentions, fueled by a report earlier this year from the Leadership magazine, indicating that founder and CEO Ahmed Borodo was exploring the launch of a scheduled domestic airline named Q-air. It remains uncertain whether the newly obtained AOC will be utilized for this new airline venture, as no updates on Q-air have been released to the public.

Apart from aircraft management, Flybird offers a comprehensive range of services including charter brokerage, maintenance, and crew services. Despite its growing operations, the company maintains a low digital profile with no official website or social media presence. Ahmed Borodo, a former pilot with Virgin Nigeria and an entrepreneur with a background in aviation and telecommunications, leads Flybird with a vision for expanding its footprint in the Nigerian aviation industry.
