Non-stop services to the US with Delta Airlines are back

Following a 62 weeks break due to the pandemic, US is once again reconnect directly to Athens

On the 29th of May 2021, Delta Airlines flight DL202 from New York JFK landed at Athens and market the first airline operating non-stop service to/from the US, in this new era.

US was the TOP International market for Athens/Greece back in 2019 and this significant development markers a historic moment, as traffic to Athens is returning.

For 2019 Foreign residents international arrivals from the US surpassed 700,000 arriving PAX.

A short “Welcome Back” event took place with flight receiving a water arch for its arrival, both arriving and departing passengers received some nice treats and Athens International Airport mascot “Philos the Athenian” saluted both crew and passengers !!! A very nice feeling…

On the occasion of the very first flight from the US, Athens International Airport Communications and Marketing Director, Mrs Papadopoulou Ioanna stated .:

“The direct connection of the airport, our city and our country with the United States of America starts today with Delta’s flight to and from New York / JFK, and is a highly important development for our airport! We are also looking forward to the direct connection with Atlanta in a few days!

During this very difficult period of the pandemic, our city’s  connectivity is getting significantly enhanced, while passengers on both sides of the Atlantic – including the very dynamic Greek- American community – can now enjoy the journey they have been longing for.
