North American Air Charter Ends Learjet 60 Operations

North American Air Charter, based in Islip, has officially ceased operations of its Learjet 60, marking the end of its Learjet charter services. This move comes after the aircraft, registered as N189SB with a manufacturer serial number of 60-210, remained largely inactive while under the company’s operation. The 22.4-year-old jet, configured to accommodate up to eight passengers, was added to North American Air Charter’s Part 135-certified fleet in September 2024 but saw limited use.

The Learjet 60 conducted a few flights in early October but was only active on four different occasions thereafter. Since January 16, 2025, the jet has been parked at El Paso, following its last flight from Houston Hobby. During its time with North American Air Charter, all operations were conducted under the ‘JTL’ code, a holdover from its days with previous operator Jet Linx Aviation.

The aircraft has now transitioned to the Part 135 fleet of Jetvia, a company that specializes in operating various models of Learjet. Jetvia’s fleet notably includes seventeen Learjet 60s, four Learjet 60SEs, a Learjet 35A, and three Learjet 55s.

With the phase-out of the Learjet, North American Air Charter’s fleet under its Part 135 certificate now includes a diverse range of aircraft, including a Citation Latitude, a HondaJet, a newly added HondaJet Elite, and a King Air C90A. This realignment reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to modernize and diversify its fleet to better meet the evolving demands of its clientele.
