North-West Aircompany Adds Global Express XRS
North-West Aircompany (0E), based in St. Petersburg, has significantly expanded its fleet with the addition of its first Global Express XRS, marking a notable development in its strategic fleet acquisitions. The aircraft, now registered as RA-73588 (msn 9422), was imported via the San Marino register despite ongoing Western sanctions. This acquisition underscores the company’s determination to modernize its operations in the face of challenging international pressures.
The 14.3-year-old Global Express XRS was previously operated commercially by China’s Amber Aviation under the registration B-3389 until early 2024. Following its service with Amber Aviation, the jet was reregistered in San Marino as T7-ONYX and managed by Aquila Sky Aviation Trading Brokerage—an influential United Arab Emirates-based firm that specializes in private jet acquisition, management, and sales. The aircraft’s first flight under the new Sanmarinese registration took place on May 3, 2024, between Tianjin and Riga, where it remained parked until November.
After a period of inactivity, the ultra-long-range jet resumed operations under Sanmarinese registration and flew for the last time on November 24, 2024, on a route from Muscat to Dubai World Central. The aircraft then became active as RA-73588 on December 11, 2024, operating on a route between Muscat and Moscow Vnukovo. Although it primarily uses the Sanmarinese registration for its operations, on December 27 the aircraft operated under North-West Aircompany’s ‘NWC’ code—first executing a flight around Moscow’s metropolitan area and subsequently serving the route from Moscow Vnukovo to Dubai World Central.
The acquisition of the Global Express XRS is a strategic addition to North-West Aircompany’s diverse fleet. The company currently operates a wide range of aircraft designed to meet varying charter and business travel requirements. Its fleet now includes an ACJ318-100 and an ACJ320-200N, two A321-200NXs, and three Falcon 7Xs—one of which was recently imported via Tajik and South African registries. Additionally, the fleet consists of a Global 5000, four Global 6000s (with one imported through the South African registry earlier in 2024), two Global 6500s, the newly added Global Express XRS, a Challenger 650, two G550s, a G650, a Falcon 900C, four AW139 helicopters, and a Mil Helicopter Mi-171.
This recent fleet expansion is in line with North-West Aircompany’s aggressive strategy to enhance its global capabilities, expand its service offerings, and operate an internationally competitive fleet despite economic and regulatory challenges. The decision to import and operate the Global Express XRS via the San Marino register illustrates the company’s innovative approach in circumventing obstacles and maintaining forward momentum.
By adding the Global Express XRS, North-West Aircompany is set to expand its operational footprint on long-haul routes, ensuring better connectivity between key cities across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The aircraft’s proven performance and long-range capabilities make it an ideal platform for high-profile charter operations and executive travel.
As North-West Aircompany continues to build on its existing fleet, the inclusion of state-of-the-art jets like the Global Express XRS reinforces its reputation as an agile and resilient operator in the private aviation sector.
