Norwegian Announces 2024 Giving Joy Winners

Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the winners of its annual Norwegian’s Giving Joy Program, honoring 20 educators from across North America with free cruises for two. The top three grand prize winners will also be guests on the Norwegian Luna’s christening voyage in spring 2026 and experience the new amenities at Great Stirrup Cay.
“It’s our privilege to celebrate and honor the incredible educators who help shape the next generation,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “These educators have made an enormous difference in their communities, and now it’s their time to unwind and enjoy a meaningful escape, one that brings together the best of travel, learning, and well-earned joy.”
More than 700 submissions were received for this year’s program, with winners spanning California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and British Columbia.
The grand prize winners are: First Place: Joe Paneitz of Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas; Second Place: Emily Banks of Mulberry Creek Elementary in Cataula, Georgia; and Third Place: Alexis Wellmaker of Dr. Maude A. Sanders Primary School in Peoria, Illinois.
Coca-Cola is donating roundtrip flights for each winner, while the Guy Harvey Foundation is providing educational content and a free virtual training session. Norwegian’s partners have contributed more than $40,000 to be donated to the schools of the top three winners.
Since 2019, the Giving Joy program has awarded nearly 300 educators with free vacations and donated over $550,000 to teachers and their schools, further cementing Norwegian’s commitment to supporting educators year-round.
