Norwegian Aqua Sets Sail for New Horizons

Norwegian Cruise Line has officially welcomed its first guests aboard the brand-new Norwegian Aqua, marking a milestone in the company’s ever-evolving fleet. The state-of-the-art vessel, carrying 3,571 passengers on its maiden voyage from Lisbon to Southampton, England, set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable cruising experience. As part of a five-part inaugural series, more than 2,000 invited guests had the exclusive opportunity to experience the ship before it embarks on its broader service.
After completing the inaugural leg across the Atlantic, Norwegian Aqua is set to head towards Miami, where the ship will be christened on April 13, 2025. Renowned actor Eric Stonestreet has been named the ship’s godfather, adding a touch of star power to the upcoming ceremony. From its new homeport in Miami, Norwegian Aqua will offer a variety of itineraries, including voyages to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, continuing this service until March 2027. The vessel’s deployment from Miami, Orlando, and New York City is designed to cater to a wide range of travelers looking for diverse and engaging experiences at sea.
As the first ship in the new Prima Plus Class, Norwegian Aqua brings an array of modern amenities and innovative features to the cruising scene. Guests will be thrilled by attractions such as the Aqua Slidecoaster—a thrilling water ride that promises adrenaline-pumping fun—and the Glow Court, where vibrant nighttime entertainment sets the mood for unforgettable evenings. Families and adventure seekers can also enjoy the Aqua Game Zone, which offers interactive games and activities that cater to all ages.
Norwegian Aqua doesn’t just focus on exhilarating attractions; it also offers a rich variety of productions and entertainment options onboard. Guests can choose from captivating shows like “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince” and “Elements: The World Expanded,” which are set to redefine the in-cabin entertainment experience with immersive and innovative performances. Complementing the entertainment offerings is a culinary landscape designed to satisfy every palate. With 17 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges, guests have access to an impressive array of dining options, including Sukhothai—a Thai specialty restaurant known for its authentic flavors—and Planterie, a new plant-based eatery located within the Indulge Food Hall.
“This is a milestone moment for Norwegian Cruise Line as we set sail aboard Norwegian Aqua, a ship designed to offer our guests MORE—more wide-open space, more thrills, more culinary experiences, and more immersive entertainment,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. He added that the inaugural season is an opportunity for travel partners from around the world to experience the new product firsthand and witness how Norwegian Aqua embodies the promise to “Experience More at Sea.”
