Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) marked a milestone on Friday as the Norwegian Gem departed on the company’s first-ever voyage from Jacksonville, Florida.

The sailing follows NCL’s multi-year agreement with JAXPORT to offer seasonal cruises from November through April each year through 2028, featuring itineraries to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

“Our new homeport partnership with JAXPORT underscores Norwegian’s commitment to providing guests with exceptional vacation experiences from convenient departure points,” said Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.

The 2,344-passenger Norwegian Gem will homeport in Jacksonville during the 2025–2026 cruise season, offering voyages to tropical destinations across the Caribbean and the Bahamas. On board, guests can unwind at the Mandara Spa & Salon, enjoy entertainment such as Blazing Boots and Ignite the Night, and dine across 12 restaurants serving Asian, Italian, French, and Brazilian cuisine. The ship also features 14 bars and lounges.

Jacksonville’s JAXPORT Cruise Terminal provides a convenient departure point for travelers in the Southeast, with on-site parking and easy access to Jacksonville International Airport, I-10, and I-95. Positioned within a one-day drive for more than 98 million people, the city continues to grow as a leading drive-to cruise market.

“We are thrilled to see more cruising out of our city,” said Michael Corrigan, President & CEO of Visit Jacksonville. “Thank you to Norwegian Cruise Line for investing in Jacksonville and to JAXPORT for recognizing the value of bringing new ships here. With over 10 million annual visitors, we’re excited to introduce even more travelers to our destination.”
