Norwegian Cruise Line Cancels 2026–27 Sailings on Four Ships

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced a series of itinerary changes and cancellations affecting four ships in 2026 and 2027 as part of a fleet redeployment strategy designed to enhance guest experiences and optimize port availability.
According to USA Today, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Dawn will swap homeports in Florida between November 2026 and March 2027. The move will allow both ships to operate “modified and enhanced itineraries” featuring additional visits to NCL’s upgraded private island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas.
“Norwegian Gem will sail Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Tampa, Florida, ranging from four to 11 days, offering a wider variety of options for guests,” the company said. “Meanwhile, Norwegian Dawn will sail shorter voyages to the Bahamas from Jacksonville, Florida.”
At the same time, NCL cited “port availability” issues as the reason for canceling several sailings aboard Norwegian Getaway between November and December 2026, as well as select itineraries on Norwegian Joy in December 2026. These changes come as part of the line’s effort to refine its Caribbean and Bahamas deployment.
“The new sailings will feature more immersive itineraries for guests seeking longer cruises during the holiday season,” NCL stated, adding that bookings for the revised itineraries will open soon.
Guests affected by the cancellations will receive a full refund and a 10 percent future cruise credit. “We are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences both onboard and across our global destinations,” NCL said. “While we strive to maintain original itineraries whenever possible, changes are sometimes necessary to meet guest demand and adapt to evolving port conditions.”
The announcement follows NCL’s recent redeployment of Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Breakaway for the 2026 season, signaling a broader shift in the cruise line’s operational strategy to focus on flexibility, premium destinations, and enhanced guest satisfaction across its global fleet.
