Norwegian Cruise Line Honors Top Teachers with Free Cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week by giving the public an opportunity to nominate outstanding educators for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid cruise aboard its newest ship, the Norwegian Luna, which debuts in spring 2026. From May 5 through May 31, anyone can visit Norwegian’s Giving Joy website to share stories about exceptional teachers whose dedication and creativity have made a meaningful impact on students and their communities.

Nominees should be celebrated for inspiring passion in the classroom, demonstrating adaptability in the face of challenges, and earning peer recognition for their unwavering commitment to education. Submissions may highlight how a teacher’s innovative methods have helped students overcome obstacles, fostered a love of learning, or extended support beyond school walls. Heartfelt anecdotes about transformational lessons or community projects will help teachers stand out in the selection process.

A panel of Norwegian’s Giving Joy judges will review all nominations and rank the top twenty educators. Those twenty semifinalists will each receive a three- or four-day cruise for two on a sister ship to the upcoming Norwegian Luna, sailing to warm destinations where they can unwind and recharge. The three highest-scoring teachers will be named Grand Prize winners and invited to join the exclusive three-day christening voyage of the Norwegian Luna departing from Miami in spring 2026.

“At NCL we are all about delivering exceptional experiences, including honoring communities who make a difference in the world, such as teachers,” said David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We’re so proud to celebrate six years of our Norwegian’s Giving Joy program and continue shining a light on incredible teachers who are shaping our future generation. This year, we’re excited to reward twenty exceptional teachers with an unforgettable vacation and MORE ways to relax and explore on board one of our many spectacular NCL ships.”

Since its launch in 2019, the Norwegian’s Giving Joy campaign has received nearly 61,000 teacher nominations and awarded over 270 educators with a vacation of a lifetime. With the support of valued partners, the program has donated more than $515,000 in cash grants to teachers and their schools, funding classroom supplies, community initiatives, and professional development opportunities.

Educators and supporters are encouraged to visit the Norwegian Cruise Line Giving Joy page before the May 31 deadline to submit nominations. Detailed instructions on story requirements and judging criteria are available online. By sharing inspiring accounts of educators who go above and beyond, nominators help ensure that dedicated teachers receive well-deserved recognition—and the chance to set sail on a remarkable educational retreat at sea.
