Norwegian Cruise Line marked a significant milestone today with the official delivery of its newest vessel, Norwegian Aqua, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. As the 20th ship in NCL’s award-winning fleet and the first of the Prima Plus Class, Norwegian Aqua represents a bold step forward in the company’s expansion strategy and commitment to offering more at sea. The state-of-the-art ship, measuring 1,056 feet long and weighing in at 156,300 gross tons, is designed to accommodate 3,571 guests at double occupancy. With expansive outdoor areas, spacious staterooms, and innovative design, Norwegian Aqua sets the stage for an elevated cruise experience aimed at delivering memorable moments for the entire family.

One of the most exciting features on Norwegian Aqua is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a thrilling attraction that promises a rush of adrenaline for guests of all ages. In addition to this heart-pounding experience, the ship is set to debut Sukhothai, the first Thai specialty restaurant in the fleet, bringing authentic Thai flavors to life at sea. These additions highlight NCL’s focus on blending classic cruise comforts with fresh, inventive amenities that cater to today’s discerning traveler. David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, emphasized that the new ship is more than just a vessel—it is a testament to the company’s promise to continually push boundaries and enhance the guest experience. He noted that Norwegian Aqua is designed to deliver unforgettable moments as it sails to popular destinations such as the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Great Stirrup Cay, NCL’s private island in the Bahamas.

Simultaneously, NCL celebrated another key moment with the float out of Norwegian Luna, the next ship in the pipeline. Having successfully completed external construction and floated out of her dry dock, Norwegian Luna is now set to move to a floating dock where interior work and furnishings will be completed in preparation for her 2026 debut. This achievement underscores the company’s forward-thinking approach to fleet expansion, ensuring that new and innovative experiences continue to be delivered to guests around the globe.

Building on the success of its predecessors, Norwegian Aqua is 10 percent larger in both size and capacity than previous vessels such as Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. The increased size allows for more expansive spaces, additional dining options, and a host of engaging activities, all supported by the highest staffing levels to guarantee an exceptional service experience. NCL’s partnership with Fincantieri has been instrumental in bringing this ship to life, combining expertise in construction and design to create a vessel that not only meets but exceeds modern cruising expectations.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s recent milestones with Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna reflect its dedication to continuous improvement and guest satisfaction. With innovative features, enhanced amenities, and a forward-looking approach to fleet expansion, NCL is setting a new benchmark for the modern cruise experience. As the company continues to invest in technology, design, and unparalleled service, guests can look forward to extraordinary adventures and unforgettable moments on every voyage.
