Oceania Allura Names Star Chefs as Godparents

Oceania Cruises has named a group of Food & Wine Best New Chefs alumni as the ceremonial godparents of its newest ship, Oceania Allura, set to debut in July 2025. The cruise line says the decision reflects its deep-rooted connection to world-class cuisine and honors the future of culinary innovation.

The official christening will take place in Miami on November 13, where several celebrated chefs recognized by the prestigious Best New Chefs program will attend. Since 1988, the Food & Wine initiative has honored more than 400 rising culinary stars, and this marks the first time alumni of the program will serve as ship godparents.

“This is a celebration of passion, talent, and the global language of gastronomy,” said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises. Editor in chief of Food & Wine, Hunter Lewis, added, “This partnership is a tribute to the visionary chefs shaping today’s most exciting cuisine.”

Beyond the christening, the collaboration will continue at sea. In August, 2023 Best New Chef Aisha Ibrahim will sail on a 10-day Alaska cruise aboard Oceania Riviera. Two more Food & Wine Best New Chefs voyages will launch aboard Oceania Allura in 2026.

To further elevate its dining experience, Oceania has also introduced 12 new Nikkei dishes to its Red Ginger restaurant. Created with guidance from Chef Gustavo Sugay, the menu blends Japanese and Peruvian flavors and will launch on Oceania Allura before expanding fleet-wide by early 2026.

Allura will welcome 1,200 guests with a focus on fine cuisine and destination-rich itineraries.
