Oman Air Transforms First Class into Premium Business Studios

Oman Air has announced the removal of first-class cabins due to declining demand, introducing an innovative transformation within its Boeing 787-9 fleet primarily on its London and Bangkok routes. The luxurious first-class suites are now rebranded as Business Studios, enhancing the business-class experience without increasing costs for travelers.

This strategic shift allows Oman Air to expand its business-class seating by repurposing existing first-class suites into what are now termed Business Studios. These revamped suites maintain the original spacious layout and high-end features, such as 82-inch seat pitch, high privacy walls, 23-inch HD entertainment screens, free Wi-Fi connectivity, and à la carte dining, all available at more competitive business-class pricing.

Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, explained the decision, noting the airline’s commitment to aligning with modern traveler expectations and national tourism goals, focusing on segments like wellness, adventure, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). “The traditional First Class experience has seen diminished demand…This decision allows us to focus on delivering an exceptional Business Class experience,” said Korfiatis.

The conversion of first-class suites to Business Studios not only provides passengers with an upgraded experience but also reflects Oman Air’s dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction. The Business Studios are equipped with features designed by Teague and Collins Aerospace, crafted through extensive research and journey mapping to optimize comfort and functionality.

The design incorporates elements of Omani heritage, notably the arch shape found on the suite doors and feature walls, echoing the architecture from Oman’s ancient forts to the modern Royal Opera House in Muscat. A particularly thoughtful aspect of the design is the privacy divider between center suites, which is certified to remain up, promoting a more open and welcoming environment initially, rather than creating barriers among passengers.

Oman Air’s strategic revamp of its cabin offerings positions it as a leader in providing premium business travel experiences, promising passengers one of the most impressive business-class experiences in the skies.
