Oman Air has officially welcomed the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in a series of three new aircraft set to enhance its fleet in 2024. The new addition arrived at Muscat International Airport (MCT) on August 23, 2024, after departing from Boeing’s production facility in Everett, Seattle.

This Boeing 787-9, now the 10th Dreamliner in Oman Air’s growing fleet, is part of a significant order with Boeing that will see the delivery of eight more Dreamliners by 2027. The latest addition is equipped with a modern two-class configuration, featuring 30 seats in business class and 258 in economy class, designed to offer an enhanced passenger experience.

Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, expressed enthusiasm about the new aircraft, stating, “We’re thrilled to integrate the Boeing 787-9 into our fleet, which reflects our commitment to operating a modern and streamlined fleet. This new aircraft will help us maintain operational efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and provide a consistent and exceptional experience for our passengers.”

Korfiatis also highlighted the strategic importance of the new Dreamliner in Oman Air’s broader goals. “This addition is a key part of our efforts to achieve financial sustainability while upholding our status as a top-tier airline. It supports Oman’s goals to enhance tourism and connectivity, aligning perfectly with our vision for the future,” he added.

In addition to the new aircraft, Oman Air has recently revamped its premium cabin offering. The airline has introduced a new business class product, “Business Studio,” which will replace the traditional first-class service. Korfiatis explained that the decision to retire first class was driven by a decrease in demand for the product.

“The Business Studio concept was developed in response to valuable customer feedback and evolving global trends. We’ve refined our premium class offering to provide greater value and appeal, catering to the changing preferences of our travelers,” Korfiatis noted. “By focusing on an exceptional Business Class experience, we are better aligned with national tourism objectives and the modern traveler’s needs, while also offering it at a more competitive price point.”

The introduction of the Business Studio reflects Oman Air’s commitment to adapting to market trends and enhancing the overall passenger experience, as the airline continues to invest in its fleet and service offerings to meet the needs of a dynamic travel market.
