Opinion: Using hotels as welfare stations defies realism

Cities such as Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco are undermining tourism in a vain effort to alleviate a social problem by turning to hotels to house homeless people, migrants and addicts, commentator Michael Goldstein writes. The policies won’t solve the affordable housing problem and only worsen the industry’s struggle to recovery from the pandemic amid rising crime, Goldstein adds.
