A flight passenger was taken into custody after allegedly making a direct threat aboard an Alaska Airlines flight at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) just moments before takeoff.

The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 14, as Alaska Airlines Flight 2123 was taxiing for departure to Walla Walla, Washington. The aircraft was carrying 68 passengers and four crew members.

According to Alaska Airlines, the suspect made a direct threat to a flight attendant during taxi. The crew followed standard security procedures and redirected the aircraft to an isolated runway. Port of Seattle Police and Fire Department responded immediately, along with the FBI’s Seattle office.

A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that one person was taken into custody. While the exact nature of the threat has not been disclosed, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary ground stop at SEA due to security concerns.

All passengers were deplaned safely and returned to the terminal after undergoing additional security screening. Video from the scene, shared by KING 5 Seattle, shows passengers on the tarmac and law enforcement officers with sniffer dogs inspecting the aircraft.

Two runways were temporarily closed during the response, but normal operations resumed later in the day. Alaska Airlines confirmed that at least six flights were canceled and two others diverted due to the disruption.

The airline said it is working to rebook affected travelers. The incident remains under investigation by federal and local authorities, with no further details released at this time.
