Monday’s Passenger Experience Conference provided an excellent start to the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2022, which will once again feature the latest in-flight industry expertise, along with exploring all the new and exciting developments within the aircraft cabin market.

Polly Magraw, Event Director of AIX, gave a warm welcome to delegates attending the largest passenger experience and cabin interior event in the world. In addition to AIX, the extensive event hosts the Passenger Experience Conference and the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo.

The Passenger Experience Conference is a unique opportunity to learn, network and meet with business contacts the day before AIX opens, and this year’s event certainly didn’t disappoint. The conference began with an insightful panel session focusing on revitalising air travel and featured moderator Jennifer Newlands from Airbus alongside speakers Silvia Mosquera from TAP Air Portugal, Anthony Woodman from Virgin Atlantic and creative entrepreneur Paul Wylde. The session explored how companies can envision the arc of sustainable, worthwhile business that will be lucrative and desirable for travellers and the wider society.

After a break to facilitate networking opportunities, the programme split into two streams that ran in parallel until the late afternoon and featured thought-provoking topics with a focus on “rebellious reconstruction” and “integrity in action”.

David Kondo, Head of Customer Experience & Product Design at Finnair, and Matt Round, Chief Creative Officer at Tangerine, explored how the cabin can deliver benefits to airlines and passengers alike when it becomes an experience or destination in its own right.

Innovators Daniel Baron, Managing Director of LIFT Aero Design, Anthony Harcup, Senior Director of Airline Experience at TEAGUE and Boney Mathew, Vice President of Engineering & Quality at Pexco Aerospace, challenged ideas about what can be achieved in the cabin and outlined their visions to deliver better, more compelling experiences for passengers and support sustainable business for airlines.

Make sure you’ll follow our extensive coverage of AIX from Hamburg this week, featuring breaking news and many exciting developments over the next three days.
