Passenger Numbers Through Dublin Airport In January 2022

Almost one million passengers (992,000) travelled through Dublin Airport in January, a -53% drop when compared to pre-COVID levels in January 2020, but an increase of 778,000 passengers when compared to January 2021.

Passenger volumes to and from Continental Europe were down 42% in the first month of the year when compared with January 2020 with more than 600,000 passengers travelling to European destinations last month, an increase of 460,000 versus the same month last year.

UK traffic was down by 67% when compared to 2020 as 251,000 passengers travelled to and from Britain in January this year. This is an increase of 221,000 when compared to January 2021.

Passenger volumes to and from North America are still down by -53%, as 102,000 passengers travelled on transatlantic routes in January when compared to pre-COVID levels in 2020. Dublin Airport saw an increase of 75,000 passengers travelling to and from North America in January 2022 versus the same month last year.

International passenger traffic to the Middle East in January was still down by -59% versus January 2020, as 31,000 passengers travelled during the month but has increased by almost 20,000 when compared to January 2021.

The number of passengers flying on domestic routes in the first month of the year was down by -44%, as 3,600 passengers travelled this route sector last month compared to January 2020, an increase of 2,000 when compared with last year.
