Pattaya Airways, a venture by the Pattaya Group, is set to launch its operations in the fourth quarter of 2024, targeting the rising demand for air travel as the post-Covid situation stabilizes. The CEO of the Pattaya Group, Tosaporn Asunee, revealed the airline’s plans during an event in Bangkok, emphasizing the increasing demand in the aviation industry.

Anticipating the rebound of the sector, Pattaya Airways has positioned itself to tap into the growing demand for air transportation services, especially from international customers in the Asian region. The startup recently secured its air operator’s license (AOL) in September, a crucial step towards obtaining the air operator’s certificate.

For its initial operations, Pattaya Airways plans to dry lease two ATR72-500(F) aircraft, with the aim of adding three more ATR aircraft (Avions de Transport Régional) between 2026-2028. This strategic expansion is driven by the expected surge in demand, particularly in the e-commerce sector. While Pattaya Group has been recognized primarily as a ground-handling business, the foray into the airline business marks a significant step in meeting the evolving needs of the aviation market.
