Pegasus Airlines CEO: No Plans for Widebody Aircraft

Pegasus Airlines (PC) has no plans to incorporate widebody aircraft into its fleet, focusing instead on the ample potential for international and domestic growth with its all-narrowbody lineup, according to CEO Güliz Öztürk. Speaking during a panel debate at the 2024 Farnborough Air Show, Öztürk emphasized the airline’s commitment to this strategy.

The Turkish low-cost carrier is transitioning to an all-A320neo Family fleet. Currently, Pegasus operates six remaining A320-200s and ten Boeing 737-800s, which it extended to around 2029 due to strong demand. The airline posted a 29% year-over-year passenger number growth in the first quarter of 2024. Its fleet also includes forty-six A320-200Ns and forty-eight A321-200NXs. Pegasus has an order book with Airbus for sixty-one A321-200NX aircraft, part of a total of 155 new-generation aircraft: 150 ordered directly from Airbus and five sourced via lessors.

Öztürk mentioned that delivery delays had been a challenge. Although the delays are just two to three weeks per aircraft, they pose significant issues during peak season.

Pegasus Airlines anticipates completing the deliveries of all on-order A321neos by 2029. Öztürk reiterated previous statements that the airline might consider “topping-up” the order with additional aircraft to support further growth.
