Pegasus Elite Aviation Unveils First Bombardier Global 5000 with Starlink
Pegasus Elite Aviation has launched the world’s first Bombardier Global 5000 private jet equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi, marking a groundbreaking advancement in in-flight connectivity for the private aviation industry. The new installation leverages SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network to deliver high-speed, reliable internet connectivity at 35,000 feet, setting a new standard for private jet travel.
This development is a significant milestone for Pegasus, a private charter subsidiary of Prima Air, which collaborated with SpaceX’s Starlink and aviation technology provider Thornton Aviation to install the system. The Starlink network operates via a constellation of approximately 6,000 low-earth orbit satellites, enabling high-speed internet with minimal latency, even during high-altitude flights. This installation, available exclusively on the Bombardier Global 5000 model, is anticipated to elevate the in-flight experience by providing seamless internet access across continents.
Lina Tullberg, CEO of Prima Air, highlighted the importance of this connectivity breakthrough, stating, “The integration of Starlink represents a major leap in in-flight connectivity. By leveraging the most advanced technology, we ensure that our business jet passengers experience connectivity tailored to their needs. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously exceed the evolving expectations of our charter customers.”
To bring this advanced connectivity solution to life, Pegasus Elite Aviation undertook the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) certification process and a rigorous Part 135 conformity inspection. The Van Nuys FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) supported this regulatory process, ensuring the Starlink installation met strict safety and performance standards. This thorough approach underscores Pegasus’s commitment to safety and quality in delivering state-of-the-art connectivity to their clientele.
Operating from key locations, Pegasus Elite’s fleet is based at major airports across the United States and Asia, including Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport (TEB), Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (OPF), Las Vegas Airport (LAS), and the Hong Kong Business Aviation Center. The addition of Starlink to its Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft further differentiates Pegasus Elite Aviation from competitors in the private charter sector, positioning it as a leader in in-flight technological advancements.
The private aviation sector has increasingly recognized the demand for uninterrupted connectivity during flights, particularly among business travelers. Pegasus Elite’s move to integrate Starlink Wi-Fi not only meets this demand but also provides a competitive edge in the growing market for high-tech, luxury air travel. This development may inspire further advancements in the aviation industry as companies explore new ways to enhance passenger experiences through technology.
In a related development, Gulfstream Aerospace recently announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted supplemental type certification for installing Starlink on the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER models. Gulfstream is actively seeking similar certifications for a range of its aircraft, including the G800, G700, G600, G500, and others. Gulfstream Customer Support President Derek Zimmerman remarked on the importance of this upgrade, noting, “Starlink is an offering that we know is important to operators. Having the capability to install this connectivity upgrade at our facilities is part of our ongoing commitment to our customers.”
The dual announcements from Pegasus Elite Aviation and Gulfstream underscore a larger industry shift towards enhanced in-flight connectivity, addressing the needs of high-end clients who require robust internet services. With Starlink’s expanding reach, private aviation customers can expect more seamless online access, transforming how business and leisure are conducted in the skies.
