Pegasus Opens MRO Hub, Plans 4Q26 Expansion

Pegasus Airlines has inaugurated a new full-service maintenance, repair, and overhaul centre at Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen Airport, marking a significant step in the carrier’s strategy to expand in-house technical capabilities.
The new facility spans 18,000 square metres of enclosed space alongside a 25,000-square-metre apron. It features two hangars designed to support both line and base maintenance for up to five narrowbody aircraft simultaneously. The centre is certified to handle Airbus A320ceo and A320neo family aircraft, as well as Boeing 737NG models, aligning with Pegasus’ predominantly narrowbody fleet profile.
The opening follows plans outlined by chairman Mehmet Nane in late 2025 to strengthen the airline’s technical infrastructure and reduce reliance on third-party maintenance providers. By investing in its own MRO capabilities, Pegasus aims to enhance operational control, improve turnaround times, and create additional long-term revenue opportunities through potential third-party maintenance services.
A second development phase is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. This expansion will add an additional hangar, increasing base maintenance capacity to accommodate five more narrowbody aircraft. The added infrastructure will support Pegasus’ continued fleet growth and rising maintenance demand.
Looking further ahead, a third phase is planned within four to five years. This stage will expand the additional hangar to accommodate up to 10 narrowbody aircraft, significantly boosting the airline’s total maintenance throughput capacity at the Istanbul site.
The investment underscores Pegasus Airlines’ long-term growth strategy as it continues to expand its fleet and network. Strengthening in-house MRO capabilities not only supports cost efficiency and operational resilience but also positions the carrier to capitalise on Turkey’s growing aviation sector.
With Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen serving as a key base for Pegasus’ domestic and international operations, the new MRO centre is expected to play a central role in sustaining fleet reliability and supporting the airline’s expansion through the remainder of the decade.
