Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to launch a nonstop service connecting Manila International Airport (MNL) with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) starting October 2, marking a significant expansion of its international route network. This new service, the only direct flight between the two cities, is poised to cater to the growing demand for travel between the Philippines and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, offering passengers a direct link to Seattle, a vibrant high-tech hub and bustling port city.

Operating three times weekly with a Boeing 777-300ER, this route will become the sixth U.S. destination in PAL’s extensive network, joining established routes to Guam, Los Angeles, New York JFK, San Francisco, and Honolulu. In addition to its U.S. destinations, PAL also connects travelers to Toronto Pearson and Vancouver in Canada, reinforcing its presence in North America.

Seattle’s strategic position as a gateway to Washington and Oregon makes this route particularly appealing for business and leisure travelers alike. It also enhances connectivity for passengers looking to explore PAL’s broad domestic network within the Philippines, including key cities like Cebu and Davao, as well as its regional international network encompassing destinations such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur.

The introduction of this direct service is a response to the significant Filipino population in Washington state, the fourth-largest in the U.S., highlighting the community’s desire for a direct connection to Manila. The MNL-SEA route not only facilitates travel for the Filipino diaspora but also opens new avenues for cultural and business exchanges between the two regions.

With 60 tons of weekly cargo capacity, the new service will play a critical role in enhancing trade, supporting the movement of goods between the Philippines and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. This initiative is part of PAL’s broader strategy to stimulate tourism and business travel, leveraging the strong visitor numbers from the U.S. to the Philippines.

The SEA airport has recognized PAL’s Manila service as part of a growing list of new international services announced in 2024, including Alaska Airlines’ flights to Toronto Pearson and Lufthansa’s Munich service, as well as increased connectivity to Taipei through China Airlines, Starlux Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.

Philippine Airlines’ decision to inaugurate direct flights between Manila and Seattle underscores its commitment to enhancing global connectivity and providing passengers with efficient travel options, further solidifying its position as a leading carrier in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
